Areté Informatics
Answers to common questions about our process, security, and how I help small businesses leverage modern technology.
Areté is an ancient Greek concept representing "excellence of any kind" or fulfilling one's ultimate potential. Informatics is the science of information processing and engineering. Together, the name reflects our philosophy for the Information Age: helping your business reach its highest operational potential through the excellent, disciplined use of modern data and software tools.
Not at all. While giant tech companies need billions of data points, small businesses often get the highest ROI from simple, secure automation tools that connect their existing documents, spreadsheets, and CRMs. If you have standard operating procedures, regular client intake forms, or repetitive work like report writing or processing data of any kind, you have enough to get started.
Security is our highest priority. I strictly implement private, enterprise-grade endpoints. Your internal documents, client data, and proprietary systems are never fed back into public training models like standard ChatGPT. You retain complete ownership and control.
No. The goal is to build clean, independent tools that your team owns. While some specialised cloud infrastructure costs a few dollars a month to run, I explicitly avoid locking you into expensive, proprietary retainers.
No. I believe open-ended hourly billing creates misaligned incentives. I charge transparent, fixed fees for the Roadmaps and structural builds, or use fixed-price "Fortnightly Blocks" if you want continuous, iterative development.
The tools I build are designed to augment your staff, not replace them. The focus is on removing the repetitive, administrative friction (like manual data entry, quoting bottlenecks, or document triage) so your team can spend their time doing the high-value work they were actually hired to do.
